Sewing Project: Table Runner

I love green. I decided to make a table runner that would be nice for spring/summer seasons. I had some home decor fabric in my stash and completed this project in under 1 hour. Very simple, and also reversible. After measuring the table and comparing the size to a store bought table runner, I cut the fabric allowing 1/2 inch seam allowance. On one side, I added a coordinating fabric to each end. Then with right sides together, I sewed 1/2 inch seam leaving 4 inches at one end to turn right side out. After turning right side out, I ironed and topstitched the parameter. I think it turned out great! I love the contrast with our dark table.

Sewing Project: Wine Bottle Koozie

Well, I've completed my first sewing project by myself! I decided that before I start my first quilt, I needed to get more familiar with my sewing machine. The Wine Bottle Koozie is definitely an easy project, and it is so cute and cozy! I want to make these to have on hand for a last minute hostess gift or even a Christmas gift. The pattern is from Design Sponge, check out their blog for complete directions on this project.

Here are my fabric choices:
The Finished Project, I learned to sew a button as well. This is a day of many firsts!

And the Koozie put in action. Too cute!

Simple Things: Sun Tea

Today is the perfect day to make sun tea. This is something that my Mom would always do, growing up and I have continued the tradition. To make, simply have a glass container, 4 tea bags of your favorite tea. Fill the container with water, with the bags in the container and place in a sunny spot outside for 6-8 hours. Afterwords, put in the refrigerator and enjoy! I like to use either regular tea or green tea with lemon. You can also get creative and make your own flavor by using 2 regular or green tea bags and 2 of any flavor such as raspberry, lemon, or whatever you have on hand.
